Phillip Island is an hour and a half to two hours' drive from Melbourne, over the bridge at San Remo. It's home to the largest little penguin colony in the world, Australia's largest fur seal colony at Seal Rocks, and a coast of wild surf, sheltered bays and dramatic cliffs.
Peachy's stay here is in Cape Woolamai, on the island's south-eastern edge, close to one of Victoria's most popular surf beaches and the clifftop walks to the Pinnacles.
Watch little penguins from the world's largest colony waddle home from the ocean to their burrows, any night of the year. Bookings are essential.
Two treetop boardwalks bring you up close to koalas, with bushland where you might spot wallabies, echidnas and native birds.
A heritage farm just off the island at Newhaven, with an 1872 homestead, sheep shearing and cow milking, and the site of Victoria's first European garden, planted in 1801.
Clifftop boardwalks at the tip of the Summerland Peninsula, past a blowhole, look out to Seal Rocks, home to Australia's largest fur seal colony.
The Superbike World Championship has raced here since 1990. Drive a go-kart on a 750-metre replica of the track, overlooking Bass Strait.
Waves to bodyboard or surf, and rock pools to explore at low tide. It's patrolled in summer, so swim between the red and yellow flags.
