Yarra Glen sits in the Yarra Valley about 55 kilometres north-east of Melbourne, with Healesville, Coldstream and Dixons Creek close by.
The town keeps its country feel, with antique shops, a print gallery and independent boutiques, and the National Trust-classified Grand Hotel, built in 1888. Some of the country's best-known wineries are on its doorstep.
Victoria's first vineyard, established in 1838, with tastings in the original winery building.
Seated tastings at the Dixons Creek cellar door, and Italian food at its restaurant, Locale.
Opened in 2003 on the Healesville–Yarra Glen Road; the museum and its collection were gifted to the nation by Eva and Marc Besen.
